You Mermaid to be Awesome

Today's card is one that I created for my sister who has been a little down lately.  I decided a surprise encouragement card (with mermaids of course!) might cheer her up a bit.  She loves mermaids, especially Ariel, and I couldn't wait to use this set that I just bought from The Greeting Farm.  Plus, I found this awesome mermaid scale pattern paper by Recollections at Michael's a few weeks ago.  And...I'm always up for a reason to color using my Copic markers (love them!).  Coloring is so relaxing.

I'm entering this in The Greeting Farm June Farm Fresh Challenge: Summer Fun and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Supplies Used:
TGF Little Mermaids stamp set
Recollections Enchanting 6x6 paper pad (mermaid scales)
white cardstock
Memento tuxedo black ink
Kaleidacolor blue breeze ink
Copic markers
sheer iridescent ribbon
iridescent sequins
adhesive foam squares

Have a great day!

2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop & TGF June Farm Fresh Challenge: Summer Fun

Sooo.... this is my first time participating in the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, and I'm very excited!  I just ordered two new stamps sets which came in the mail Monday - The Greeting Farm's Mini-Remix Brewtiful and Perk Up.  Love them!  I was hoping they would come in time for me to join in on the fun of the blog hop.  I am also participating in my first Farm Fresh challenge over on The Greeting Farm's blog.  Yay!

To keep with the theme of summer and coffee, I stamped the frappuccinos using my Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves ink pad.  I know, I know...it's supposed to be a summery card, and I'm using an ink pad called Autumn Leaves.  Lol.  But I thought the orange, red, and yellow shades were a nice bright summery look and the brown just fits with the color of coffee.

Supplies Used:
The Greeting Farm clear stamps: Mini-Remix Brewtiful, Perk Up
Ink: Kaleidacolor (autumn leaves), Memento (tuxedo black)
Cardstock: Stampin Up (apricot appeal, chocolate chip), white, kraft, beige
Copic markers
Martha Stewart edge punch (doily lace)
Stampin Up Hodgepodge Hardware (vanilla)
grosgrain ribbon (from my stash)
adhesive foam squares

Have A Ball!

I've had this gumball machine stamped and colored for a couple of months now, and finally was inspired to use it!  I created this card for MFT Camp Create Bonus: Gather 'Round the Campfire - Divine Dry Embossing.  I used one of my Spellbinders dies and embossing mat to create the white area behind the gumball machine.  It looks a little like a doily!  The other fun thing that I added was Stampin' Up Crystal Effects to the globe part of the machine to give it the look of gumballs inside the glass.  And you can't tell in the photo, but the pattern paper has some sparkle to it as well.  Can't wait to decide who to send this card to!

Besides entering this card in Camp Create, I also am submitting this for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Use Patterned Paper.

Nature's Masterpiece

Day 5 of MFT Camp Create was Glitzy Glitter.  I love sparkle on my projects so I was thrilled!  This card is so simple, but it's probably now one of my favorites that I've created.  It's just calm and relaxing.  And I love when I start out on a card with no real ideas or designs in mind, and it just suddenly all comes together perfectly.  Have a great day!

Fore You Dad

Day 4 of MFT Camp Create was Sensational Sliders.  I created this Father's Day card (but really could be a birthday card, too) using the smartphone die from Lawn Fawn's Seflie Frames.  I was trying to give the illusion of swiping through photos on a phone.

After I took and uploaded the pictures of this card, I noticed the striped string shifted upwards a bit.  Grr... Oh well.

I am participating in My Favorite Things Camp Create Day 4, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Let's Take a Vacation, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Use Patterned Paper.

Jawsome Dad

For day 2 of MFT Camp Create: Remarkable Resist I made 4 mini background squares.  I embossed using a stencil and Nuvo Glimmer Paste, then colored over the embossed areas with shimmer watercolors in blue and green to give it an ocean look.  I think it looks a little like ocean waves!  I then tilted the images as I adhered them to my card.  I stamped and colored the shark, and then stamped and colored two baby sharks (got this wonderful idea of creating baby sharks from Lawn Fawn's Yainea here: http://lawnfawn.blogspot.com/2017/06/lawn-fawn-video-6617-fathers-day-card.html).  Finally I put the finishing touches on the card by stamping the sentiments, adhering the sharks with adhesive foam squares, and adding a few iridescent sequins to look like bubbles.  I am so excited how this card turned out!  Can't wait for my kids to present it to my husband on Father's Day.

I am also entering this card in both the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Touchy Feely and Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It.

Watercolor Night Sky

Yesterday I played around with watercolors joining in on the fun with My Favorite Things Camp Create.  I used shimmery watercolors to create a night sky background for this Father's Day card. I painted streaks of different shades of blue, green, and purple, then added some black in various spots and then lightly washed over the entire card with black.  Then I painted over each color again to pull a little more of the color through the black.  To me, it gave the effect of the moon shining over the lake.

After the watercolors dried, I stamped my images in black, then colored in the bears with colored pencil and traced over the outlines with black colored pencil to make the images pop a little more. Added some gold Stickles to the stamped stars and a few shiny adhesive stars.  Then finished it off with black sparkly chipboard letters and attached it to a black cardstock base.  I am happy with how it turned out!

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week: Touchy Feely.

'Reel'y Awesome Grandpa

Hi!  It's been awhile since my last post!  Life has been a bit crazy over the past month or so between warm weather activities, kindergarten orientation, and a trip to Disney World.  I did manage to make five Mother's Day cards and an anniversary card for my husband, but didn't have time to post them here on my blog (you can check them out on my Instagram @i.dream.in.purple).

Anyways, now I'm back and working on Father's Day, graduation, and birthday cards.  Here's my first creation, a card for my father-in-law that will be from my kids.  He LOVES to fish and has gotten my son interested as well.  It's their buddy time activity.  I created this for the Your Next Stamp Color Challenge #65, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Masculine) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Make It Masculine).
